Product Introduction:

Lithium-ion batteries, also known as lithium batteries, are rechargeable batteries that utilize lithium ions to store energy. They are extensively utilized in portable electronic gadgets including laptops, smartphones and electric cars. The batteries function by transferring lithium ions between two electrodes namely the positive cathode and negative anode via an electrolyte solution. The cathode receives the ions when the battery is charged and the anode receives them when the battery is discharged. This mechanism enables the battery to store and discharge electrical energy.

Features:
  • High energy density: These electrical elements have a high energy density, meaning they can store a large amount of energy per unit weight or volume. This makes them ideal for portable electronic devices, electric vehicles and other applications where weight and size are crucial factors.
  • High voltage: These power units have a high operating voltage, typically around 3.6 volts per cell which allows for higher power output and longer run times compared to other battery types.
  • Low self-discharge rate: Lithium batteries have a relatively low self discharge rate which means they can retain their charge for a longer period of time when not in use, making them suitable for applications that require long storage times.
  • No memory effect: Unlike some other rechargeable battery types, these power packed units do not suffer from the memory effect which means they can be partially charged and discharged without significantly impacting their overall capacity.
  • Long cycle life: Lithium batteries can typically withstand a large number of charge-discharge cycles before their capacity begins to degrade significantly, making them suitable for applications that require frequent recharging.
  • Low maintenance: These lithium energy units generally require little to no maintenance during their lifetime, as they do not need to be vented or have their electrolyte levels checked or replenished.
  • Environmental friendliness: Lithium batteries are generally considered more environmentally friendly than some other battery types, as they do not contain toxic materials like lead or cadmium.

Applications:
  • Laptops and cellular phones - These power packed units are commonly used in laptop computers and mobile phones due to their high energy density and lack of memory effect. This makes them an excellent choice for portable electronics.
  • Electric vehicles - Both lithium-ion and lithium-metal batteries are used extensively in electric vehicles like electric cars, buses, trucks, bikes, scooters etc. Some advantages for EVs include lightweight batteries, quick recharging ability and high power output.
  • Power tools - Cordless power tools like drills, saws, impact wrenches use lithium-ion batteries since they don't lose charge when not in use and they provide more runtime.
  • Medical devices - Implantable medical devices like pacemakers use lithium thionyl chloride batteries due to their long shelf life and stability. Wearable medical devices also commonly use lithium coin cells.
  • Backup power - These electrical storage units are used as a backup power source for things like uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), emergency lighting, automatic garage door openers, sump pumps, etc.
  • Consumer electronics - Devices like digital cameras, drones, wireless headphones, smartwatches use lithium polymer or lithium-ion batteries.
  • Industrial equipment - Lithium batteries have applications in industrial tools, remote controls, sensor networks due to their ruggedness and long lifespan.
